Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. Difficult to photograph from the areas I accessed due to lighting, depth and shadows. Deep vertical and horizontal cracks in the rocks make it a little unsettling to get very near the edges. Very old, very deep with black volcanic rock giving it's name. Parts of the gorge receive only 33 minutes of sunlight during a day. Photographed 9/30/19.

I believe the well worn brass plaque once indicated the elevation at 7783 feet above mean sea level.

This north rim wall is at Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. The height is 2700 feet. In the summer one can often see climbers on the wall. Many take more than a single day to ascend and actually camp on the wall. Don't roll over! A number of climbers have died making this climb.
